After the Indian Army completely foiled the air strikes and drone attacks of Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, once again the preparations to deal with a war-like situation will be tested. Mock drills will be held in Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana under Operation Shield on Saturday.
There will be a blackout in Chandigarh from 8 pm to 8:15 pm. At the same time, civil defense exercises will be conducted in Haryana from 5 pm to 9 pm. Blackout will be done for 15 minutes from 8 pm to 8:15 pm near all important establishments.
There will be a blackout from 8 to 8:30 pm in Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Pathankot in Punjab, from 8 to 8:15 pm in Hoshiarpur, from 8:30 to 9 pm in Tarn Taran, from 9:30 to 9 pm in Ferozepur and from 9:30 to 10 pm in Jalandhar and Kapurthala.
32 thousand civil defense volunteers will be involved Haryana Home Secretary Sumita Mishra said that this civil defense exercise is being conducted on the instructions of the Union Home Ministry to enhance the state’s emergency preparedness and response capabilities. 32 thousand civil defense volunteers will be involved in the mock drill.
The exercise will extensively involve civil defence wardens, registered volunteers and youth organisations including the National Cadet Corps (NCC), National Service Scheme (NSS), Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) and Bharat Scouts and Guides.
