Chandigarh The UT administration’s Standing Finance Committee (PEC) has approved the construction of a new boys hostel block at Punjab Engineering College (PEC). The cost of this hostel, which will be built in about 86,000 square feet, will be around Rs 30 crore. After getting approval from the administration, the tender process will be started soon, through which a qualified construction agency will be selected.
This new hostel will have a total of seven floors along with the ground floor. The building will have more than 100 rooms, which will be equipped with all the facilities according to the needs of the students.
Apart from parking facility for 34 cars in the basement, there will also be electrical panel room, pump room, fire pump room and two staircases.

Basement: 34 car parking, 2 lifts
Ground floor: 6 rooms, warden room, 2 guest rooms, medical room, reading room, store, common toilet, toilet for disabled, dining hall, 2 staircases, kitchen, washing area
First floor: 14 rooms, 4 common toilets, toilet for disabled, store, common room
Second floor: 19 rooms, 4 common toilets
Third floor: 15 rooms, 4 common toilets
Fourth floor: 17 rooms, 4 common toilets
Fifth floor: 17 rooms, 4 common toilets
6th floor: 15 rooms, 4 common toilets
