The issue of drugs is heating up in Punjab. Meanwhile, BJP state president Sunil Jakhar has written a letter to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. In the letter, he has demanded that the money trail of drugs be investigated under the supervision of the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court, so that the real people can be reached.
Jakhar alleged that the drug business in Punjab cannot flourish without protection or support. Every year drugs worth thousands of crores of rupees are seized from the state, this is not a coincidence. He said that the fortunes of politicians started changing in just a few years, those who used to ride bicycles earlier, now have luxury cars, acres of farm houses.
Jakhar wrote in the letter that without reaching the real accused and tracing the path of their money, the action on drugs will be nominal. It will not matter whether they have relations with politicians or officials.
Controversy started with the statement of dope test
Actually this matter started with the statement of Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema at that time. When he shared information related to drug smuggling, he said that Shiromani Akali Dal, BJP and Congress governments are involved in drug trafficking in Punjab. He had said that the leaders of both the parties should be subjected to dope tests. On this, the Punjab Congress chief accepted the challenge.
Meanwhile, Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar had said that dope tests are a small matter. He had challenged the CM and the Finance Minister and had said that the money trail of the chiefs, leaders and MLAs of all the parties should be investigated first. He had said that this responsibility should be given to the ED.
We will catch the drug users, but how will we catch the sellers? This is possible only through this. He claimed that those who are agreeing to get the tests done will back out by morning. Because they had apologized while standing in the Vidhan Sabha. Big cars do not come just like that. Sunil Jakhar still drives an Innova.
