Chandigarh, June 28, 2025: The southwest monsoon has started showing its impact in Punjab, bringing relief from scorching heat and prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a yellow alert for rainfall in 12 districts today. The state is expected to witness light to moderate rain with thunderstorm activity over the next 3–4 days.
While light rainfall was recorded in Pathankot (trace) and Rupnagar (0.5 mm) on Friday, most parts of Punjab remained dry, causing a 3.1°C spike in maximum temperatures. The highest temperature of 39°C was recorded in Bathinda, followed by 36.8°C in Patiala, 36.1°C in Ludhiana, 34.6°C in Pathankot, and 34°C in Amritsar.
