Gangwar Alert in Punjab After Jaggu Bhagwanpuria’s Mother Killed; Bambiha Gang Claims Revenge

Date:

Batala (Punjab): Tensions have erupted across Punjab and Haryana following the shocking murder of Jaggu Bhagwanpuria’s mother, Harjeet Kaur, and his close aide Karanvir Singh, on Wednesday. The Bambiha gang has publicly claimed responsibility for the killings through social media posts, citing revenge for the earlier murder of their associate Gora Barayaar.

In the now-viral message attributed to the Bambiha group, the gang warned, “Anyone involved in killing our brothers will be made to pay. We avenged Gora Barayaar’s death.” The cryptic but threatening tone of the message has put state authorities on high alert.

In response, the Bhagwanpuria gang issued a statement mourning the death of Jaggu’s mother and wrote, “No one should blame us anymore. This time, the line has been crossed.” However, in a surprising turn, the Bambiha gang later posted a condolence message saying that “targeting families is wrong,” despite having claimed the act themselves earlier.

Although law enforcement agencies have not officially authenticated these social media claims, their circulation has triggered a state-wide alert, especially because the involvement of two Haryana-based gangsters—Prabhu Dasuwal and Kaushal Chaudhary— has also surfaced in the preliminary investigation.

🔎 Who Is Jaggu Bhagwanpuria?

Jagdeep Singh alias Jaggu Bhagwanpuria hails from Bhagwanpur village in Gurdaspur. A former kabaddi player, he turned to crime in 2012 and has since become one of Punjab’s most feared gangster-celebrities. His name is associated with 128 criminal cases, including murder, extortion, drug trafficking, and weapons smuggling.

He gained popularity by portraying himself as a “Robin Hood” figure on social media. Notably, several shooters involved in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case, including Mandeep Toofan and Manpreet Manna, were allegedly linked to his gang. Despite his long list of crimes, Jaggu managed his gang from inside prison until he was shifted to Assam’s Silchar Jail — a high-security facility — to prevent further influence from within Punjab prisons.

🧨 The Sidhu Moosewala Case Connection

Following the May 29, 2022 murder of Sidhu Moosewala, it was revealed that the Bhagwanpuria gang provided logistical support to the assailants. Although Jaggu denied any direct involvement during court proceedings, investigating agencies confirmed his gang’s role in tracking Moosewala’s movement and location for the shooters.

The fallout from the Moosewala case also caused a rift between Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and Lawrence Bishnoi, former allies. A violent gangwar inside Khadoor Sahib jail led to deaths and injuries on both sides, deepening enmity. As a result, high-security protocols were adopted, and rival gang members were relocated to different prisons.

🔫 The Rise of Bambiha Gang

Founded by Davinder Bambiha, a Moga native, the gang gained notoriety after his 2016 encounter by Bathinda Police. Davinder had escaped police custody in 2015 and operated a massive crime network until his death. Despite his elimination, the Bambiha gang continues to operate actively, now managed remotely by Lucky Patial (based in Armenia) and others.

The gang is known to be in open conflict with Lawrence Bishnoi and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria factions. It maintains close ties with gangsters like Kaushal Chaudhary, Neeraj Bawana (Delhi), and several Rajasthan-based gangs. These syndicates often exchange shooters for specific operations across Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, UP, and Delhi.

As per Punjab police estimates, the Bambiha gang currently has over 500 active shooters, including several trained sharp-shooters with a history of involvement in high-profile crimes.

🛑 Security Alert Across States

The dual killings in Batala and their claimed motive have escalated fears of a full-scale gangwar between Bhagwanpuria and Bambiha factions. The Punjab and Haryana police departments have ramped up intelligence gathering and patrolling in sensitive zones, particularly in border areas and jails where rival gang members are imprisoned.

Law enforcement agencies are closely monitoring digital communication channels and social media, from where most of these threats and claims are surfacing. Given the history of targeted killings between these gangs, authorities believe that retaliation is imminent unless rapid preventive action is taken.

🧾 Conclusion

The targeted murder of a gangster’s family member represents a dangerous escalation in Punjab’s gang conflict. While law enforcement is tightening its grip, the fluid network of allied gangs and cross-border shooter mobility makes it a formidable challenge.

This is not just about inter-gang rivalry anymore—it signals increasing collateral damage, endangering civilians, families, and public order. It is high time for joint operations between Punjab, Haryana, and national agencies to dismantle this evolving network of organized crime.
