India’s Bangladesh tour will no longer happen on schedule. Although the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has not made an official announcement, preparations for the ODI and T20 series against India next month have been halted. It is believed that this decision has been taken due to the recent deteriorating relations between India and Bangladesh and security.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has also postponed the sale of media rights for the series. Earlier the technical bid was to be held on July 7 and the financial bid on July 10. But now the board has decided that it will first sell the media rights for the Pakistan series (July 17-25) and then take a decision for the remaining matches.
A week ago, BCB President Aminul Islam had said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is waiting for its government’s approval before going on the tour.
BCCI also refused, no date fixed
According to a Cricbuzz report, a BCB official said that India has refused to tour in August. BCCI has not given any confirmed date at the moment. However, an official statement may come on this by next week. The series is expected to be held later.
BCCI took the decision after the advice of the government
The Government of India has advised BCCI to avoid touring Bangladesh in view of the current situation. However, this advice is only for bilateral series. Cases of violence are happening in Bangladesh every day. In such a situation, sending the Indian team to Bangladesh is not right.
On June 3, the Government of India has allowed the Pakistan hockey team to come to Bihar for the Asia Cup, which will be held in Rajgir from 29 August to 7 September. In such a situation, the possibility of India-Pakistan match in the Asia Cup has increased.
