The accused were demanding a ransom of about one crore rupees from him. According to the information received, this incident took place in broad daylight in Moga, Punjab, when patients and many other staff members were present in the clinic. According to the people present at the spot and the police, two unknown attackers came on a motorcycle and entered the clinic pretending to be patients. After which the accused shot Dr. Kamboj and fled from there on foot.
According to the Moga police, the doctor was taking care of the patients when both the attackers fired bullets at him from close range. Dr. Kamboj was hit by two bullets and his condition remains critical at the moment. The bullets hit his chest, which have been taken out by the doctor.

According to the information received, Dr. Kamboj had been receiving threats earlier as well, although no formal complaint was lodged in this regard.
