334 teachers will be recruited in Chandigarh government schools: Central government’s instructions – improve student-teacher ratio; 218 JBT, 109 TGT will be appointed
Chandigarh Education Department is going to recruit 334 teachers in government schools soon. This includes 218 Junior Basic Teachers (JBT), 109 Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) and some special posts. This step has been taken after the instructions of the Central Government to improve the student-teacher ratio (PTR).
According to the information, the Central Government has given strict instructions to the Chandigarh Administration to correct the student-teacher ratio (PTR) in government schools and every year it should be seen where how many teachers are needed. In the meeting of Samagra Shiksha Yojana, the Project Approval Board (PAB) of the Central Government said that about 10% of the primary schools in Chandigarh still do not have the right match between the number of children and teachers.
The board has advised the Chandigarh administration to prepare complete data of how many children are there in each school and how many teachers are there. This will help in deciding where and how many teachers are needed before the new session. The board has also said that posting of teachers should not be a one-time job, but it should be planned every year.
JBT and TGT included
Chandigarh Education Department is going to start recruitment for 334 posts soon. This includes 218 Junior Basic Teachers (JBT), 109 Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) and some special posts like Resource Teacher for Inclusive Education and MIS Coordinator.
According to the department’s data, out of 728 JBT posts, 510 are filled. At the same time, out of 647 TGT posts, 538 are filled, that is, 109 posts are vacant. Officials say that this recruitment will reduce the burden of teachers especially those teaching in primary and middle schools.
Teachers should be posted based on data
The board has said that real-time data like UDISE+ should be used for posting teachers so that decisions can be taken as per the need. The board believes that by posting teachers at the right place, the quality of education can be improved even without adding new posts.
