Threat to bomb IndiGo flight in Chandigarh: Slip found in toilet; 227 passengers came from Hyderabad, police checking passenger records

There was a stir at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport in Chandigarh after a threat to bomb IndiGo flight. This flight had come from Hyderabad to Chandigarh. Security agencies were immediately informed about the threat slip found in the toilet of the flight. However, by then all 227 passengers had disembarked. Security agencies investigated the flight, but nothing was found.

A case has been registered against unknown people in the airport police station in this regard. Police have registered a case under sections 351 (criminal threat), 324 (5) (mischief causing loss of lakhs), 217 (false complaint) of the Indian Penal Code and the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against Civil Aviation Security Act, 1982.

Inter Globe Aviation Limited Security Manager Manmohan Singh told the police in his complaint that this incident is of July 5. Indigo flight came from Hyderabad to Chandigarh. It landed at Mohali International Airport at 11:58 am.

All the passengers were deboarded. When the plane was being cleaned, a slip was found in the toilet. It was written on it that there is a bomb inside the flight. It was written in English language.

All passengers’ records monitored

The information about the bomb was given to the local police and other agencies. After this, the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee was informed. Then all the investigations were done. After this, the police has now registered a case. The police is now searching the data of all the passengers who came in this flight, so that the accused can be traced. So far the police has not found any clue in this case.

227 people came to Chandigarh by plane

According to information received from police sources, the number of the flight which was threatened to be blown up with a bomb was 6E108. It flew from Hyderabad to Chandigarh. There were a total of 227 members present in it, including 220 passengers, 5 crew members and two pilots. This flight was to go back to Delhi from Chandigarh and the number of the flight going to Delhi was 6E 2195. The police has been complained about this by the security manager itself.

Such threats were received four times before

This is not the first time that there has been a threat to blow up a flight or airport with a bomb. Such cases have come to the fore earlier as well. Earlier on 19 October 2024, a fake bomb threat was received about Hyderabad-Chandigarh Indigo flight (6E108). There were 200 passengers on board the flight. However, the plane landed safely and no bomb was found in it.

Such a situation arose again in the same month. Earlier in April 2023, an Indigo flight going from Chandigarh to Mumbai received a bomb threat. But nothing was found in the investigation. In July 2022, a bomb threat was given at Chandigarh airport through an unknown call, but nothing was found.
