Now Punjab and Chandigarh (UT) Human Rights Commission have taken cognizance of the irregularities in the 24×7 water supply project started in Manimajra, Chandigarh and have taken a tough stand. The commission has issued a notice to the Chief Engineer of the Municipal Corporation and the UT Vigilance Department and sought a report before July 31. Along with this, the Executive Engineer (XEN) has also been ordered to appear before the commission on July 31.
Local people say that ever since this project has started, dirty and muddy water is coming. They alleged that the new supply system was started without replacing the old pipelines, due to which the situation has worsened.
The cost came to 75 crores
The 24×7 water supply project started in Manimajra, Chandigarh, which was inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and whose cost was said to be 75 crores. It has taken a political turn in Chandigarh. A few days ago, the task of investigating it was handed over to Chandigarh Vigilance by the Central Government. On Thursday, a delegation led by Chandigarh Aam Aadmi Party President Vijaypal Singh met Chandigarh Administrator Gulabchand Kataria and submitted a memorandum to the Administrator demanding a CBI investigation into this matter. Let us tell you that Vijaypal has retired from the Chandigarh Police from the rank of DSP. However, the government has not decided on this.
Leaders and corporates involved
Vijaypal said that a memorandum has been submitted to Administrator Gulabchand Kataria on his behalf. In which he has demanded that the 24×7 water supply project started in Manimajra should be investigated by the CBI or an SIT under the supervision of a retired judge. So that it can be known where the 75 crores went. After investigation, FIR should be filed against those found guilty.
Vijaypal alleged that politicians, senior officials and corporates are behind this. Therefore, its investigation should be done under the supervision of a senior officer. He said that it was inaugurated by the country’s Home Minister Amit Shah, after which water came for only one hour and that too was dirty water – muddy.
