Citing threat to life, Shiromani Akali Dal (chas moved a Mohali court seeking that he be lodged in a solitary barrack and not with other inmates. A former minister, Majithia, was arrested on June 25 in connections in connection with a Rs 540-crore disproportionate assets (DA) case linked to alleged drug money laundering. In judicial custody, he is lodged in the Nabha jail.
In the petition, filed through Advocate Arshdeep Singh Kler, Majithia has sought to be kept in ‘orange category” facility.
As per jail manual, orange category indicates a high-risk and high-threat profile. In his petition, Majithia has contended that he is a former minister yet jail authorities have shifted nine inmates into his barrack in Nabha jail.
