Gurdaspur (Harjinder Singh Goraya/Vinod): District police Gurdaspur has recovered more than 1 kg of heroin worth about Rs 5 crore and arrested two accused while one accused managed to escape.
District Superintendent of Police Aditya said that Dorangala Police Station in-charge Mohan Lal was on a blockade at Thakurpur turn with the police party. Meanwhile, a car number PB-65V-0252 was seen coming from village Rampur and it was signaled to stop. As soon as the car slowed down, a person sitting in the back seat of the car got down from the car and managed to escape into a nearby sugarcane field.
Due to suspicion of intoxicating powder etc. being present in the car, DSP Rajinder Minhas was sent to the spot and in his presence, two people sitting in the car were taken out of the car and the car was searched. Two packets of heroin were recovered from under the driver’s seat of the car. On examination, it was found to be 1 kg 65 mg. The accused Omkar Singh son of Gurnam Singh and Manpreet Singh son of Pyara Singh resident of Rampur Colony who were taken out of the car were arrested. During interrogation, the accused told that the person who managed to escape was Gurpreet Singh son of Aanchal Singh resident of village Chakkari. On which a case was registered against the three accused in Dorangala police station and two accused were arrested. SSP Aditya told that the accused will be presented in the court and their remand will be taken and they will be thoroughly interrogated.
