Ludhiana: Taking a big step towards ensuring safety near educational and entertainment places, Ludhiana Commissionerate Police has launched a special campaign against eve-teasing and harassment. This campaign is being run under the leadership of Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma.
During this campaign, a total of 12 police teams were formed, which included 4 Additional Deputy Commissioners of Police and other gazetted officers. All of them were deployed at important places in the Commissionerate. These teams kept on strict vigil near schools, colleges and entertainment places. As a result of the action, the police issued 118 challans and seized 12 vehicles. The main objective of this campaign was to create a safe and respectful environment for students and the general public, especially the youth going to school and college. The presence of police at the checkpoints on one hand acted as a deterrent among the people, on the other hand it also instilled confidence.
Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma has directed that such enforcement campaigns should be carried forward with more vigor in the coming days, so that strict action can be taken against mischievous elements and legal discipline is maintained in the society.
