Chandigarh: A big decision has been taken on the sacrilege bill in the Punjab Assembly. In this regard, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann proposed in the House that a decision on this bill should be taken only after taking the opinion of all religions and people.

The Chief Minister said that for this bill, talks will be held with organizations of all religions and advice of 3 crore Punjabis will also be taken so that there is no mistake in this bill. He said that this law should be made only after consultation as it will last for centuries. Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan also agreed to this. After this decision, now this bill will be handed over to the Select Committee, which will be constituted by the Speaker. The Select Committee will submit its report within 6 months after taking the opinion of the people, after which this bill will be passed. The Chief Minister said that we consider Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as a living Guru. The incidents that have happened in the last several years have broken the heart of every devotee, irrespective of the religion he belongs to.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister also spoke about the damage done to the statue of Dr. Ambedkar Sahib Ji in the House. He said that the culprits of sacrilege come out after 2-3 years and start challenging again and they start getting respect, due to which this law is very important because if the culprits of sacrilege do not get severe punishment, then no one will be afraid. He said that why only mentally ill people commit sacrilege. He said that America, Canada have not yet touched the groundwater and they also fight for oil, but in Punjab so many firecrackers are burst on Dussehra and Diwali that there is extreme pollution in Punjab. He said that I feel that we are not just living on oxygen, but on some gas. The Chief Minister said that we should protect our environment. The Chief Minister said that whoever tries to sacrilege the holy scriptures and then he cannot come out.
