Chandigarh: Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora made big announcements regarding the state’s industry policy during a press conference. He said that the Punjab government is now going to form different committees for different sectors related to the industry. A committee will be formed for each sector, which will have 8 to 10 members. These committees will be formed for two years and each committee will have a chairman. Each committee will have to submit its first report to the government within 45 days.
Sanjeev Arora said that the new industry policy will be implemented by taking suggestions from these committees as soon as possible. He said that these committees will suggest to the government what are the requirements of each sector and what changes should be made in the policy. The Cabinet Minister said that often a committee which is appropriate for one sector is not so suitable for another sector. Therefore, now when the new policy will be made, work will be done keeping in mind the different needs of each sector.
He informed that a total of 22 committees are being formed by the government. He said that the textile industry is a very large sector, so it has been divided into three committees, while one committee has been formed for each of the other sectors. The objective of this initiative is that every industry can get the support it needs and the state’s industrial policies can become more effective and compatible with regional requirements.
