Gurdaspur: Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Dr. Harjinder Singh Bedi inspected the cleanliness system in Gurdaspur city this morning. Starting from Municipal Council Gurdaspur, he took stock of the cleaning being done by sanitation workers in various markets of the city, fish market, Hanuman Chowk, Geeta Bhawan Road, Dakkhana Chowk and Jahaz Chowk.
During this, Dr. Bedi instructed the sanitation workers to perform their duty with full dedication and responsibility. He said that sanitation workers should clean their respective beats daily and dry and wet garbage should be collected separately from the houses. He said in strict words that any kind of negligence or laxity in the cleanliness system of the city will not be tolerated.
He also appealed to the city residents to install separate dustbins for dry and wet garbage in their homes and also give the garbage separately to the sanitation workers. He said that this will facilitate the disposal of garbage. Also, he requested the residents to cooperate fully in the cleanliness system of the city and not throw garbage on the roadside. An appeal was also made to avoid the use of plastic bags.
During the inspection, Dr. Bedi also reviewed the sewerage system of the city. He instructed the officials of the sewerage board to pay special attention to the cleaning of sewerage during the rainy season. Along with this, the city council officials were instructed to remove illegal encroachments in the city markets so that there is no problem in public life and traffic.
