One such case is from Jalandhar, where the aunt’s son made a minor girl pregnant. The court has taken strict action on this matter. The POCSO Act Special Court of Jalandhar has sentenced 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually abusing a minor girl. At the same time, the court has acquitted 3 other accused for not being proven guilty.
Full case:
The family of the victim minor girl had registered a case in March 2024 at Police Station Sadar Nakodar. The family had told that the victim girl’s aunt’s daughter Harpreet Singh resident Bilga was living at their house since 2023. During this time he raped the minor girl several times due to which she became pregnant. When the accused Harpreet came to know about this, he went back to his house. After this, the victim girl told her family about the incident. Due to pregnancy, the girl’s condition deteriorated, and she was immediately admitted to the hospital.
On the basis of the statements of the family members, the police registered a case against the accused Harpreet Singh, his parents and a midwife, got the girl medically examined and arrested the accused Gurpreet when the report came positive. During the hearing in the court, the accused was given a harsh punishment. He was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment. Whereas the accused’s parents and midwife have been acquitted.
