doing farming like this for 12 years Be it industrialists or common citizens, every section should contribute to reducing air pollution. Apart from this, there is also a section of farmers who can play an important role in maintaining the purity of the environment, soil and water and many farmers are also playing this role. One such farmer is 2 farmer brothers Sarabjit Singh and Ranjit Singh (sons of Harbhajan Singh) of Bhagokawa village of Gurdaspur district, who have been sowing wheat without burning stubble by renting agricultural equipment Super Seeder for the last 12 years. They are setting an example for other farmers by plowing paddy stubble in the field and sowing wheat. According to the information, both the brothers do farming together.
Both the brothers are in constant touch with the agricultural experts of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Krishi Vigyan Kendra. They participate in camps organized by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana and also read agricultural literature. Sarabjit Singh told that his father Harbhajan Singh always taught that the remains of any crop should not be burnt, but should be deposited in the ground so that the health of the soil remains, because if the health of the soil is good, then along with production, quality production will also be obtained. He told that by depositing paddy straw and wheat stalks in the fields, the consumption of fertilizers is decreasing and due to less infestation of pests, the cost of agriculture is also decreasing and profit is increasing. He told that more than 90 kg per acre of fertilizer was never used for paddy and wheat. He told that only wheat crop is given DAP fertilizer and paddy crop is not given DAP fertilizer.
Ranjit Singh told that due to the super seeder being expensive, he has sown wheat on rent, which also saves the cost of maintenance of machinery. He told that for the last 12 years he has not set fire to paddy straw nor has he advised anyone to set fire. He told that the straw lying in rows is cleaned with a reaper or a self-made Jugaad, after which wheat is sown with the help of super seeder and he never faced any problem. Sarabjit Singh told that keeping the straw in the fields and sowing wheat has improved the health of the land.
Both the brothers also appealed to the farmers to avoid the mistake of burning the straw and burn it in the field itself so that the cost of farming can also be reduced. Also, he said that the fertility of the land has also increased significantly and they are proud that they are working to save natural resources and protect the environment from pollution. Deputy Commissioner Dalwinderjit Singh praised both the farmer brothers and said that such farmers act as guides for other farmers. He said that such farmers will be honored by organizing a special function. He appealed to the farmers that they should also not burn the remains of paddy crop in their fields like farmers Sarabjit Singh and Ranjit Singh so that the fertility of the land remains intact.
