The Punjab government has declared a state holiday (gazetted holiday) tomorrow, Thursday, July 31. Giving information in this regard, Cabinet Minister and AAP’s Punjab State President Aman Arora said that this important decision has been taken to honor the immortal legacy of Shaheed Udham Singh and fulfill the long-standing demand of the Kamboj community. Now every year on July 31, there will be a state holiday in Punjab on the martyrdom day of this great freedom fighter.
Addressing a press conference at Punjab Bhawan, Aman Arora said that the state government has also decided to name Bhawanigarh-Sunam-Bhikhi-Kot Shamir Road as “Shaheed Udham Singh Marg”. He said that the Punjab government is going to organize a state-level program at Sunam, the birthplace of this great revolutionary freedom fighter Sardar Udham Singh ji, to commemorate his martyrdom.
He informed that in this programme, National Convenor of Aam Aadmi Party Mr. Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Singh Mann will formally name the road after Shaheed Udham Singh on July 31.
