Monsoon is continuously active in Punjab. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert in many areas including Punjab for the coming days. Warning has been issued regarding heavy rain and strong winds in many parts of Punjab. There is a heavy rain alert from August 1 to August 4. At the same time, the weather will remain normal in Punjab for the next 48 hours and rain will be seen in many districts. Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Mohali of Punjab will remain lightly cloudy and there is a possibility of rain.
While 9 percent less rainfall than normal was seen in the month of July, heavy rain will be seen in the month of August. The Meteorological Department has also predicted light to moderate rain at many places in Punjab for the next 2 days. According to the information, due to heavy rainfall in the hilly areas, waterlogging and flood-like conditions can be created in the lower areas of the state. Especially districts like Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur and Ropar of Punjab may be affected. The Meteorological Department has said that the state administration has been instructed to take necessary precautions.
The Meteorological Department and the administration have advised people to avoid non-essential travel, stay away from electric poles and trees, and keep an eye on weather updates. Farmers working in the fields should also be alert and stay in safe places.
