The fourth review meeting of the city’s Electric Vehicle (EV) policy was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Rajiv Verma. The meeting mainly discussed accelerating the adoption of EVs, strengthening the policy framework and achieving the target of 18 percent growth in EVs for the financial year. The UT Electric Vehicle Advisory Committee took important decisions on some important proposals related to amendments in the policy.
Under this, the subsidy for electric vehicles has been increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,500 and for electric scooters from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 per kWh. A benefit of Rs 5,000 will also be available as insurance assistance on new purchases.
Women will get an additional subsidy of Rs 12,500 per kWh, which will be up to a maximum of Rs 37,500 for a vehicle. A discount of 25 percent (maximum Rs 4,000) will be given on the price of the e-cycle, which can be increased to Rs 6,000. Apart from this, more charging stations will be installed in the city.
