news Due to continuous rain in district Fazilka and its surrounding areas for the last few days, water has overflowed in Sabooana drain. Cracks have appeared in the drain at many places, to fill which the administrative staff is continuously engaged in the field.
On the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu, the officers are constantly reviewing the situation. Tehsildar Fazilka Jaspreet Singh, while visiting villages Sabuana, Bandi Wala, Kabulshah, Kerian, Khio Wali Dhaba, Lakhkhe Wali Dhaba, Baraika etc., said that the staff of the canal department is continuously engaged in relief work. He said that the staff of the Revenue Department is also present in the field and Patwaris have been instructed to submit the report as soon as possible to assess the damage caused by water entering the fields.
He said that due to heavy rains, the inflow of water in the drains has exceeded their capacity, due to which cracks appeared at many places and water entered the fields and villages. He also said that the teams are continuously filling these cracks with the help of soil bags. On this occasion, in the absence of Fazilka MLA Narinder Pal Singh Savna, who is out for some important work, his father Khajan Singh and his team are visiting the villages along with the officials.
