As soon as the video of two policemen beating a journalist in Batala went viral on social media, the police department came into action. However, Batala police gave a clarification about the said video that both the policemen seen in the video are from the 5th Battalion Commando of Bathinda who have come to Batala from Bathinda in view of law and order duty.
At the same time, Commandant Jatinder Singh of the 5th Battalion Commando said that as soon as he gets the documents of the action taken by Batala Police on the said two personnel, he will write to the head office for further action against both of them. According to the information, a video went viral on social media on Wednesday, in which a uniformed inspector along with his colleague in civil uniform beat up a person badly and left him half dead. After the video went viral, it was revealed that the person being beaten up by the policemen was Balwinder Singh, a journalist from Batala, and the two policemen were sub-inspectors Mandeep Singh and Surjeet Singh of the 5th Battalion Commando of Bathinda. Both the policemen had gone to Batala from Bathinda for duty in view of law and order.
Batala DSP City, while giving information about the case through a video, said that the case is of August 1. As soon as the matter came to his notice, he immediately registered a case against sub-inspector Mandeep Singh and Surjeet Singh. He said in the video released that the officials of the 5th Battalion Commando of Bathinda have been informed about the action taken in the case. Regarding this matter, Commandant Jatinder Singh of the 5th Battalion Commando Bathinda said that both the sub-inspectors are from the 5th Battalion Commando Bathinda. Both of them have gone to Batala from Bathinda for law and order duty and are still on duty in Batala. He said that as soon as he gets the copy of the FIR lodged against both the sub-inspectors by Batala police, he will immediately send it to his head office for taking action against both of them.
