Action will be taken to remove constructions in the place of green belt in various areas of the metropolis, for which NGT has sought a report from the committee headed by DC. In this case, the issue has been raised in the case filed by the Public Action Committee in the National Green Tribunal that apart from the parks built during the development of an area by the Improvement Trust and GLADA, constructions are also being made by the Municipal Corporation in the place of green belt marked in the master plan.
These include 25 Verka booths, Aam Aadmi Clinic, Library etc., apart from the wedding zone being built near Chand Cinema, the construction of which has been said to be against the instructions given by the Supreme Court. Along with this, the committee has demanded that the Municipal Corporation, Improvement Trust and GLADA be directed to upload the location of green belt and park online, in view of which NGT has sought a report from the joint committee headed by DC.
Officials of the Environment Ministry have also been included in this, who have been instructed to verify the complaint at the ground level and remove the encroachment and also take action against those responsible for it. Earlier, on the case filed by PAC, the Municipal Corporation had to demolish the B&R branch office built at the place of Layar Valley in Sarabha Nagar.
