Due to continuous rains in Himachal Pradesh, the water level in the river is constantly increasing. As a result, due to the rising water level in the Beas river, thousands of acres of crops in dozens of villages under its surrounding area have been destroyed. However, this figure can be expected to increase further in the coming days. The flood-like situation has forced people to stay awake at night. It is worth noting that there is a lot of anger among the people due to the administration not providing any help to take the flood-affected people and animals to safe places.
According to the information, Kuldeep Singh, Balraj Singh, Gurjinder Singh, Varinder Singh, etc., residents of village Ghadka under Khadoor Sahib assembly constituency, said that the water level in the Beas river has increased considerably, due to which the dams adjoining the village have broken and water has entered the crops of the farmers. Meanwhile, about 15,000 acres of crops in various villages situated on the banks of the Beas river have been destroyed due to the flood, which was going to ripen by next month. He said that the crops of the farmers in the Mand area have been completely submerged and people are bravely going to other areas to take their goods and animals to safer places but the administration is not helping them in this regard.
Protesting against the administration, the villagers said that the Deputy Commissioner of the district along with his other government employees only come and go as per the situation but no help is being given as to how to help the people and what are their main needs. The villagers protested and said that the administration is talking about helping only in newspapers but in reality people are not being helped. He said that people are working day and night to take their goods and animals to safer places from other areas with the help of their private boats. The villagers said that every year thousands of acres of their crops are destroyed, compensation for previous years is already pending and further losses have occurred, which is worsening their economic condition. The flood situation has also had a very negative impact on businesses in the surrounding villages as people’s businesses are seen to be coming to a standstill as people have suffered a lot due to the impact of water and their daily communication with other districts has also been disrupted. As a result, business is being badly affected due to the impact of water. He told that the villages affected by this water include Dhunda, Kaler, Khele, Munda village, Gujarpura, Baupur, Ghadka, Chamba, Karamuwal etc.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Rahul said that the water level in the Beas river has increased, due to which crops have been submerged due to water in some areas, which is being investigated by the employees of the concerned department. He said that the administration is ready to help the people in every way. Instructions have already been issued a few days ago for people to reach safe places. He said that control rooms have been set up to help people and they are working 24 hours.
