Municipal Corporation offices will remain open on 15 August as well for recovery of outstanding property tax with waiver of interest penalty. It is pertinent to mention here that the one-time settlement scheme was issued by the Punjab government for waiver of interest penalty on depositing outstanding property tax.
Although its deadline had ended on 31 July, the Local Body Department extended this scheme till 15 August, for which the recovery of outstanding property tax on a large scale along with waiver of interest penalty was cited. Now, before the extended deadline of this policy ends on 15 August, no status has been clarified by the government regarding giving extension, in view of which the Municipal Corporation has decided to keep the office open on 15 August to deposit the outstanding property tax despite the holiday.
This has been confirmed by Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh. He said that the Facilitation Centres will remain open on August 15 to collect the outstanding property tax with waiver of interest penalty and the officials of the Property Tax Branch have been called to the office.
