The Punjab government has recommended 13 names from the state for the Padma Awards to be announced on the occasion of Republic Day 26 January 2026. All these names are of such persons who have set an example for the society and the country by doing excellent work in their respective fields.
These names include veterans from various fields like social service, art, agriculture, sports, journalism and industry. The Punjab government says that the contribution of these people is inspirational not only for the state but for the entire country.

The most popular names among the names recommended for the Padma Award are Punjabi singer Babbu Mann, Bollywood singer Sukhwinder Singh, 114-year-old late Fauja Singh. Marathon runner Faiza Singh, big businessman Jawahar Lal Oswal, social worker Narinder Singh, embroiderer Arun Kumar, farmer Bhajan Singh Shergill, social worker Kar Sevak Bhuriwal Baba Kashmir Singh, Bhai Guriqbal Singh, Jatinder Pannu Dr. Harimander Singh Sidhu, Birinder Singh Masti and Sant Baba Sukha Singh are included.

Among these, the name of marathon runner Fauja Singh is especially in the news, who is recognized worldwide for his longevity and dedication to sports. At the same time, artists like Babu Singh Maan and Sukhwinder Singh have taken Punjabi culture and art to new heights.
