As per the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Additional Commissioner Surinder Singh to review the functioning of the Water and Sewerage Department and the status of outstanding recovery. In the meeting, there was a detailed discussion on the recovery of old dues of water and sewerage and instructions were issued to the Executive Engineers (XEN) to disconnect the connections of the defaulters. Assistant Commissioner and In-charge Water and Sewerage Daljit Singh, XEN Bhalinder Singh, Gurjinder Singh, Manjit Singh, Superintendent Satnam Singh and other officers were present in the meeting.
Additional Commissioner Surinder Singh said that Municipal Corporation Amritsar is fully prepared to recover the old dues of water and sewerage and for this purpose notices are being sent to big defaulters and illegal connection holders. These include Chawla Chicken House, Nanda Hospital, Bharwan Da Dhaba, Mohan Atta Roller Flour Mill, Coca Cola Factory, St. Francis School, Mayur Hotel, Atlantis Hospital and many other big houses.
He said that all the executive engineers have been instructed to start the process of cutting the water and sewerage connections of the defaulters from Thursday, so that a message can be given to other defaulters that they should pay the dues or get the connection regularized otherwise their connections will be cut. He appealed to all the citizens to make the payment soon otherwise they may also have to face inconvenience. He told that special camps are being organized by the department for the convenience of the public.
