The 531st Prakash Parv of Baba Shri Chand Ji Maharaj, the eldest son of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, is being celebrated on Monday, September 1. On this occasion, the Punjab government has announced a reserved holiday in the state. Let it be clear here that September 1 is not a gazetted holiday but a reserved holiday, due to which schools and colleges will remain open normally on this day.
The holiday of September 1 has also been included in the list of reserved holidays issued by the Punjab government. A total of 28 holidays are included in this list and government employees can take any 2 of these holidays. At the same time, there has also been a demand to declare a local holiday on the occasion of the 531st Prakash Parv of Baba Shri Chand Ji Maharaj in district Gurdaspur, but so far no statement has come from the administration in this regard.
