There was a stir in Dhadhe village (Jandu Singha Road) of the district when a valuable and prized mare died on the spot due to electric shock. The owner of the dead mare, Shamsher Ali alias Sheru, has accused the electricity department of gross negligence and has demanded justice from the administration. According to the information received, Shamsher Ali’s mare was grazing in an empty plot of the village. In the same plot, electricity wires had been broken and fallen for many days. According to the villagers, the electricity department was repeatedly informed about these wires, but no action was taken. On Sunday, the mare came in contact with those wires and died on the spot. Shamsher Ali told that his mare had participated in horse racing competitions in many states including Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan and had won more than 700 prizes. The household expenses were met because of it. He said, “The price of this mare was around 10 lakh rupees. Many people had also given offers to buy it, but it was my source of livelihood, so I never sold it.” The victim said that not only did he win cash prizes on the basis of the mare, but once he also got an Activa scooter as a prize in a race. Now, due to the death of the mare, he is financially and mentally broken. There is an atmosphere of anger in the village after the incident. Local people say that if the department had repaired the fallen wires in time, this accident could have been avoided. The villagers and the victim have demanded action against the guilty officials and compensation from the administration.
