Israeli airstrikes took place in Yemen’s capital Sanaa in the early hours of Sunday. This information was given in local media reports. According to the news, this attack by Israel has taken place just a few days after Iran-backed rebels fired cluster bombs on Israel. ‘Al-Masirah Channel’ run by Houthi rebels has reported these attacks. This is the first attack on rebel-held Sanaa since August 17.
Israel had said at the time that the attacks targeted power plants, which are believed to be used by the rebels. Israel did not confirm Sunday’s attack. Iran-backed Houthi rebels have fired missiles and drones at Israel for more than 22 months and targeted ships in the Red Sea. Houthi rebels say they are carrying out these attacks to show solidarity with the Palestinians amid the war in the Gaza Strip. An Israeli Air Force official said the cluster bomb missile fired from Yemen towards Israel on Friday night was a sign of a new threat. The official said this is the first time Houthi rebels have fired cluster bombs at Israel since they began firing rockets towards Israel in 2023. The official said the use of cluster bombs makes it difficult for Israel to stop them.
