The torrential rains in Punjab-Himachal have caused heavy damage in various parts of the district. The railway bridge built on Chakki river, which connects Jammu and Kashmir to the whole country by rail, is now in danger. Both the roads leading to Pathankot, the National Highway and Chakki river bridge are closed, which has created panic among the people.
Due to the strong flow of Chakki river, soil is continuously sliding from under the bridge. Due to soil sliding, traffic on the bridge has been stopped. In view of this, the Pathankot administration has closed the new bridge built on Chakki river, due to which people are facing problems.
At the same time, the administration is appealing to the people that people going from Mukeria to Gurdaspur should not come towards Pathankot. In such a situation, people going to Jammu should go from Mukeria to Gurdaspur and from here to Jammu. Local people say that this bridge is the only bridge connecting the country from Jammu and Kashmir to Kanyakumari and soil is constantly sliding from beneath it. The administration should take immediate action so that no major accident occurs. Security officials say that due to the increase in water in the river, soil is sliding from beneath the bridge. Due to this, movement of people on the bridge has been stopped and railway officials are constantly monitoring its condition.
