Continuous heavy rains in Punjab have caused havoc. Due to rain, people’s houses and crops have been submerged in water, while many bridges and houses have also collapsed. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has again issued a warning of heavy rain on 26th and 27th. The department has issued a rain alert in Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib and Rupnagar today. Along with this, heavy rain is expected in other districts including Pathankot, Gurdaspur on August 27.
The Meteorological Department has advised people to be careful. Due to rain, an alert has been issued, especially in the villages of the border areas. In the last 24 hours, 691 mm of rain was recorded in Punjab. Meanwhile, amid warning of heavy rains, holiday has been declared in schools in Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Dinanagar, Ajnala, Raya and Ferozepur-Fazilka districts of the state.
