It has become difficult for people to even get out of their homes. Due to major changes in the weather, people’s business has come to a standstill. That is, a large number of people have been affected. Due to heavy rains in the upper areas of Himachal, the flow of water in the Gobind Sagar Lake of Bhakra Dam and Pong Dam is continuously increasing.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has again issued a heavy rain alert in Punjab. According to the alert issued by the department, there will be moderate to heavy rains in various districts of Punjab from August 29 to September 1, for which a ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued. Along with this, the rain situation may become critical on August 29, as there may be heavy rain in Punjab today.
Let us tell you that the water level of Bhakra Dam was recorded at 1671.80 feet, while the water level of Pong Dam has crossed the danger mark, due to which BBMB administrators, keeping in mind the safety of Pong Dam, have released 1,04,989 cusecs of water from Pong Dam into Beas River today. Apart from this, due to continuous release of water from Bhakra Dam, Pong Dam and Madhopur Headworks in Pathankot, hundreds of villages in Ferozepur, Fazilka, Kapurthala, Sultanpur Lodhi, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur and Dera Baba Nanak areas have been flooded with water up to 7 feet.
