Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal on Sunday appealed to the public not to panic due to fake news of floods spreading on social media and clarified that no such incident has been reported in the district so far. Responding to the rumours related to floods in Jalandhar Cantt area, Dr. Aggarwal said that the district administration is keeping a close watch on the situation and so far the situation is completely under control. He also informed that waterlogging was observed in some low-lying areas due to increased water level due to overnight rains, which was wrongly reported as flood water on social media.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed that the district administration is fully prepared to deal with any situation. Adequate relief centers and necessary materials have already been made available. Apart from this, flood control rooms have been set up at the district level (helpline number: 0181-2224417), as well as a state level control room number 0181-2240064 is also operational, where citizens can get information or assistance.
