DC Jalandhar suddenly reached relief centers late at night, issued instructions

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal visited the relief centers late at night and reviewed the arrangements. He instructed the officers and employees posted at the relief centers to perform their duties with full dedication and hard work. He said that proper arrangements should be ensured in advance in case of flood, so that if needed, relief can be provided to the people in a proper manner and with dedication.

Reiterating the commitment of the Punjab government, he said that 54 relief centers have been set up in the district for the convenience of the people living in flood-prone areas, where every necessary assistance will be ensured in addition to medical facilities. He said that 8 relief centers are currently functional, where the residents of sensitive areas have been shifted as a precaution. Meeting the families living there, he assured them that there is no need to panic, the Punjab government is standing shoulder to shoulder with them.

The Deputy Commissioner said that a flood control room has been set up for flood related information and assistance, whose helpline number is 0181-2240064. He said that after the arrival of 1.14 lakh cusecs of water from Ropar on Monday evening, the water level in Sutlej will increase, so it is necessary to take necessary precautionary measures. He appealed to the people of low lying and flood prone areas to avoid going near the banks of the river to avoid flood like situation and if needed, move to relief camps set up at higher places. Dr. Agarwal appealed to the people to avoid going to the banks of the river. He said that administrative teams have been deployed in sensitive villages and people are also being made aware. He also appealed to not gather on the dam of Sutlej without any work. On this occasion, SDM Shubhi Angra, DSP Omkar Singh Barar, DRO Navdeep Singh Bhogal and Nodal Officer Secretary RTA Balveer Raj Singh were also present.
