The Education Department has issued notices to two private schools in the district for not following government orders. In view of the floods, the department had declared holidays in schools till September 3, but according to the department, the said schools have ignored the orders by opening the schools.
District Education Officer Secondary Rajesh Sharma said that in view of the floods, the Punjab government has declared holidays in government, private and audit schools till September 3. But it came to the notice of the department that some schools were open today. Teams were sent to the spot and it was seen that the said schools were open. In view of the seriousness of the matter, notices are being issued to the concerned schools. Rajesh Sharma said that the department is working with full vigilance to ensure strict compliance of government orders. If any school ignores government orders, appropriate action will be taken against it. The District Education Officer said that in view of the floods, government schools located at high places like Ajnala, Lopoke have been opened for the stay of flood affected people. The administration is making arrangements for drinking water and food in schools. Apart from this, bathrooms are also being kept clean. Teachers have been put on duty in schools and clear instructions have been issued to school heads that people should not face any kind of trouble. The District Education Officer said that he himself is visiting the affected areas every day and is helping the district administration in taking people to safe places.
