After the flood, a new trouble has come upon the farmers of Punjab. Actually, now the paddy crop in many districts of the state has started coming under the grip of ‘Chinese virus’. This virus has destroyed the ripe crop by taking it in its grip. This virus has engulfed 7 districts of the state. According to the information, an alert has also been issued regarding this virus in Rupnagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Pathankot, Mohali, Mansa, Sangrur and Patiala districts. In these districts, paddy crops of farmers have been destroyed in about 9 thousand hectares of area.
On the other hand, experts from the Agriculture Department as well as Punjab Agricultural University are visiting these districts and efforts are on to deal with the virus. About 10 teams of the department are visiting these districts and talking to the affected farmers. There is also a danger of further spread of this virus due to the continuation of flood water.
Paddy crop sown on contracted land in the grip of ‘virus’
Nabha (Puri): A virus has attacked the paddy crop in Rohti Basta Singh village of Nabha assembly constituency and has badly ruined the crop. Farmer Hardeep Singh is forced to plough his paddy crop. During the conversation, farmers Hardeep Singh and Makhan Singh told that they do farming on contracted land. The entire paddy crop sown on this land has been destroyed. The farmer has demanded compensation from the Punjab government for the destroyed crop.
