The scope of investigation in the much-discussed (illegal property) case related to former Punjab minister and senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia is continuously increasing. In this connection, Majithia’s brother-in-law Gajpat Singh Grewal was issued summons by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau for questioning, but on Monday 15 September, he did not appear at the Vigilance Headquarters, Mohali.
Taking Gajpat Singh Grewal’s absence seriously, the Vigilance Bureau has now sent him a fresh notice. According to this notice, he will have to compulsorily appear at the Vigilance Bhawan located in Sector-68, Mohali on Tuesday 16 September 2025 at 11 am. Let us tell you that Gajpat Singh Grewal was earlier supposed to appear on September 15 itself, but he remained absent without giving any reason. Due to this, the investigating officer has used section 179 of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS) 2023 to ensure his presence. Under this section, if a person does not cooperate in the investigation, strict legal action can be taken against him.
Legal experts believe that Gajpat Singh Grewal can prove to be an important link in this case. Investigating agencies hope that his testimony and statement can bring more clarity on the financial transactions and sources of property related to Majithia. This is the reason why the Vigilance Bureau is showing strictness regarding his presence.
