Heavy rains in Chandigarh have triggered alarm bells! People are gasping for breath…
The alarm bells have rung once again for Chandigarh and surrounding areas. The city has been experiencing heavy rain since this morning. Heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh have also caused the water level in Sukhna Lake to rise. Consequently, the flood gates of Sukhna Lake were opened again today.
According to reports, the water level in Sukhna Lake remains at 1162 feet, but when it approaches the danger mark, the flood gates have to be opened. After opening the gates, all the lake’s water flows onto the road from Sector 26 to Bapu Dham, submerging the Kishangarh area.
For the past several days, the weather had been normal and there was no rain, which had brought relief to the residents of Bapu Dham and Kishangarh. However, the reopening of the Sukhna Lake flood gates today has increased concerns that their areas may be flooded again.
