Drunkards have created a reign of terror in the city, causing immense hardship for women. According to reports, residents of Ludhiana’s Navan Mohalla area are extremely troubled by drunkards. As evening falls, the main road becomes a hub of alcoholics. People openly sit outside shops with liquor bottles and drink. Local residents allege that despite numerous complaints, the police have taken no action.
The situation has deteriorated to such an extent that women in the area are reluctant to leave their homes and go to the market after 6 p.m. Bottles are everywhere on the streets. Liquor shops also openly sell water, snacks, and snacks. People buy bottles from the shops and drink them on the street. The liquor shop employees say that they don’t have a proper yard, so they don’t serve alcohol. However, the liquor shops openly sell water, salt, disposable glasses, and snacks, which allow drunkards to sit on the street and drink.
The biggest concern is that during this time, no woman can leave her house because while the drinks are being consumed openly, many drunkards are found lying naked on the street. The police have warned the liquor shop employee to remove the posters advertising water, salt, and snacks from outside his shop, or strict action will be taken.
