Claiming that farmers have not faced any problems selling their produce in the last three years, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government will repeat the history of smooth and timely procurement in Punjab this year, just like in previous years. He warned that if any farmer faces any problem, strict action will be taken against the concerned officials.
Reviewing the ongoing procurement operations in the state during a meeting here on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said that while the state government is making every effort to ensure smooth and prompt procurement of paddy, farmers are also being paid on time. He categorically stated that the state’s farmers should not face any problems in selling their produce in the mandis. Paddy procurement began on September 15, and extensive arrangements have already been made to procure 175 lakh metric tons of paddy. Advocating for smooth and seamless paddy procurement, the Chief Minister said that every grain of the hard-earned crop of Punjabi farmers will be purchased. He directed the state’s procurement agencies to be fully prepared for paddy procurement in the current season.
The Punjab Mandi Board has notified 1,822 regular procurement centers for paddy procurement in the 2025-26 Kharif procurement season. All notified mandis have been allocated to the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Punjab. He also appealed to farmers to bring their crops to the mandis after thoroughly drying them. Reiterating the state government’s firm commitment to paddy procurement, the Chief Minister said that he would personally monitor the entire procurement process to ensure that farmers do not face any difficulties. The government has taken several exemplary initiatives to ensure transparent and smooth procurement in Punjab.
