A major accident occurred in Jalandhar on Sunday morning when a young woman, who was learning to drive, lost control of her vehicle outside the house of former minister and BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia. A young newspaper deliveryman passing by was hit by the car and seriously injured.
According to people present at the scene, the incident occurred around 7:15 a.m. near Shastri Market Chowk. Deepak, a resident of Rasta Mohalla, who was injured in the accident, said he was out delivering newspapers as usual when a car coming from behind suddenly collided with him. With the help of local people, the injured young man was immediately rushed to the Civil Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. The former minister’s personal car and part of his house were also damaged in the accident. It is reported that the former minister had purchased this car only a few months ago after his previous car was damaged in a grenade attack.
Investigating officer ASI Surjeet Singh stated that the young woman is approximately 18 years old. She panicked after the accident, and the car continued to sway back and forth. Police have launched an investigation, and the victim is reported to be out of danger.
