important news has arrived. Important news is emerging regarding the payment of challans in Punjab. Challans can now be paid online, and an e-court facility is soon being launched in Mohali district. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has ordered the Punjab government to implement this initiative. If the e-court initiative in Mohali is successful, it will be implemented in other districts of the state as well.
According to information, a public interest litigation (PIL) has requested the High Court to connect Punjab to the National Virtual Court platform so that traffic challans can be settled online. The petition stated that the number of e-challans is increasing, and people still have to appear in courts or government offices to pay challans. The petition argued that the National Virtual Court portal is already in place in Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Chandigarh, allowing people to pay small challans online.
Calling this delay in Punjab inexplicable, demands were made for its implementation across the state. The court was informed that it would take approximately three weeks to fully implement the virtual court system for traffic challans in Punjab. The court clarified that a pilot project should first be launched in Mohali, before being implemented throughout Punjab.
