A grand procession is scheduled to be held in Jalandhar on October 6th to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maharishi Lord Valmiki. Traffic police have diverted traffic at 22 points in the city. According to the scheduled program, the procession will begin at the ancient temple of Lord Valmiki in Ali Mohalla and will pass through Lord Valmiki Chowk, Luv Kush Chowk (Milap Chowk), Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk, Panjpir Chowk, Khingra Gate, Adda Hoshiarpur Chowk, Adda Tanda, Mai Hira Gate, Sheetla Mata Temple, Lord Valmiki Gate, Patel Chowk, Sabzi Mandi, and Basti Adda, concluding at the ancient temple of Lord Valmiki in Ali Mohalla.
A large number of devotees are expected to participate in this procession. Keeping this in mind and to ensure smooth traffic movement, the Jalandhar Traffic Police Commissionerate has diverted traffic from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm. Routes including Nakodar Chowk, Skylark Chowk, Parinda Chowk near State Bank of India, PNB Chowk, Press Club Chowk, Namdev Chowk, Shastri Chowk, Mor Pratap Bagh, Mor Henry Petrol Pump, Bhagat Singh Chowk, Adda Hoshiarpur One-Way, in front of Ikhari Puli, Hoshiarpur Railway Gate, Tanda Chowk, Tanda Railway Gate, T-Point Gopal Nagar, Old Sabzi Mandi Chowk, Mod Mahalaxmi Narayan Temple, near Old Jail, Patel Chowk, Basti Adda Chowk, T-Point Shakti Nagar, Football Chowk, etc. have been diverted.
The Shobha Yatra route will be closed to public vehicles from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm. During this period, drivers have been urged to use diverted routes or alternative routes instead of the Shobha Yatra route on October 6th to avoid traffic jams.
