A sports teacher at Aromira School in SST Nagar in the city committed indecent acts with a 9-year-old student.
Police from the Lahori Gate police station registered a case against the teacher and arrested him. Inspector Shivraj Singh Dhillon, SHO of the Lahori Gate police station, confirmed that the teacher has been arrested. According to reports, the school’s sports teacher committed indecent acts with a 9-year-old girl, which the girl reported to her parents, who then went to the police station.
The Lahori Gate police station immediately contacted officials from the Child Welfare Department. The Child Welfare Department team counseled the girl and assisted the police in filing a case. After recording statements from the girl’s family, the Lahori Gate police registered an FIR against the 42-year-old sports teacher under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and arrested him. The girl is undergoing a medical examination. Police suspect that the sports teacher attempted to molest her. District Child Welfare Officer Rupwant Kaur said that during counseling, the girl described the incident in detail. Based on the family’s complaint, the police have registered an FIR.
