A massive uproar erupted during Sufi singer Satinder Sartaaj’s show during the ongoing Saras Mela at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on Monday night. Due to the large crowd, when SHO Gagandeep Singh of Police Station Division No. 4 stopped a man from entering, the man began arguing and shoving him. A video of the incident has surfaced. During the altercation, the man threatened the SHO, saying, “I will remove your laces.” SHO Gagandeep Singh later stated that the man had threatened to strip him of his uniform four times. Due to the show being full, people were being kept outside, which is why they were preventing the elderly man from entering. The man, on the other hand, claimed his wife was inside and wanted to take her out with him. Police later resolved the situation.
Due to the massive crowd and chaos at the show, some people even damaged government property and climbed on fire brigade vehicles. Satinder Sartaj’s show took place on the night of October 13th, having been moved from October 10th due to Karva Chauth.
