News of a road accident has emerged in Jalandhar. A Thar car and an Activa scooter collided near the fish gate in Johal Bolina village, on the Jalandhar-Hushiarpur road, in the Patrara police station area. Hardev Singh Nauli, a former village head (sarpanch) of Nauli village, aged about 70, died in the accident. Upon receiving information about the accident, a police team from Patrara police station, led by Station House Officer (SHO) SI Krishna Gopal, arrived at the scene and rushed the injured Hardev Singh to the local Johal hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
According to information from the scene, the cause of the accident was a Thar vehicle driven by a young woman. The vehicle went out of control, causing the accident. Eyewitnesses reported that the accident was so severe that the woman, the driver of the Thar vehicle, dragged the Activa rider for about half a kilometer. As a result, the Activa driver died, and sparks from the dragging of the Activa ignited the Thar vehicle, completely burning it.
Sukhbir Singh, son-in-law of the deceased, stated that Hardev Singh had left Nauli village around 5:30 a.m. to buy medicine. At 6:30 p.m., he received a call informing him that he was returning home. At around 7:15 p.m., he received information that Hardev Singh had met with an accident. He immediately rushed to the hospital, but Hardev Singh had already died. The family has appealed to the police administration to arrest the perpetrators and take strict action against them. Station House Officer (SHO) SI Krishna Gopal stated that the family’s statements are being recorded and further action will be taken based on them. He added that the Thar driver involved in the accident will be identified soon. The deceased’s body has been kept at the local Jauhal Hospital, and legal proceedings are underway.
