While the Income Tax Department has sought details from the Municipal Corporation regarding illegally constructed buildings in the city, buildings of this category located in the Model Town area have come under the special scrutiny of officials, and separate details have been requested for them. It is pertinent to mention that the Income Tax Department had recently issued a notice to the Municipal Corporation seeking records related to illegally constructed buildings in the city.
During the investigation of this matter, the Income Tax Department received the most complaints about illegal buildings being constructed in the Model Town area, which falls under Zone-D. In light of this, the Income Tax Department has issued a separate circular to the Commissioner, MTP, and House Tax Branch, instructing them to prepare and send a separate list of newly constructed illegal buildings in the Model Town area.
Action possible on charges of adjusting black money
The investigation into this matter is being conducted by the Investigation Wing of the Income Tax Department, and notices are being issued by Deputy Director Deepinder Kaur. These notices require the owners to provide their Aadhaar card, PAN card, and bank account details along with the location of the illegally constructed buildings. This suggests that action may be taken against those constructing illegal buildings on charges of adjusting black money.
Abundance of such buildings in this area:
– Gujjar Khan College Road
– Ishmeet Chowk to Krishna Temple in Model Town
– Tuition Market Road leading to Baba Deep Singh Gurudwara
– Char Khamba Road
– Bijli Ghar Road
– Children Park Road
– Post Office to Dugri Road near Basant Art
– BCM School Road
-Ground Report from the area around Lyallpur Sweets to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital
The Model Town area is residential, and neither can building plans be approved nor can construction be regularized by paying fees for commercial buildings. Despite this, a large number of buildings have been illegally constructed here. Action was taken to seal or demolish many of these buildings, but shortly afterward, new showrooms are opening up in most of these buildings every day with the connivance of officials from Municipal Corporation Zone-D.
