Gangster Connection to Firing at Hotel Owner’s House in Chandigarh, Entire Incident Caught on CCTV
Two men on a motorcycle fired shots at the house of a hotel owner in Sector 38, Mohali, late Tuesday night and fled the scene. The incident came to light when the owner found bullet casings outside his house. The bullets hit the tenant’s Thar vehicle and the wall of the first floor.
Upon receiving the information, Sector 39 police arrived at the scene and called a forensic team for investigation, which recovered four bullet casings. Preliminary investigation revealed that gangster Lucky Patiala had orchestrated the attack after the hotel owner refused to pay ransom. The hotel owner had received a threatening call in October. When the police checked the CCTV footage from nearby cameras, two men on a motorcycle were seen firing shots. The motorcycle had a Punjab license plate, and after the incident, the accused fled towards Punjab. Sector 39 police have registered a case against unknown assailants based on the statement of hotel owner Manpreet Saini.
Manpreet Saini stated that he was sleeping with his family in his house in Sector 38 when he heard gunshots at night, but he thought they were firecrackers from Gurupurab celebrations. In the morning, the tenant noticed bullet marks on the windows of his Thar vehicle and four bullet casings near the gate. He immediately informed Manpreet Saini. Manpreet saw the bullet marks and called his relative, Councilor Hardeep Singh, who immediately asked him to call the police. Shortly afterward, Sector 39 Police Station In-charge Inspector Ramdayal, Palasoura Chowki In-charge Kuldeep Kumar, and the police team arrived at the scene. Teams from the Crime Branch, District Crime Cell, and Operations Cell also reached the spot.
Threat Received on October 23
Manpreet Saini stated that on October 23, he received a threatening call from an unknown number. The caller identified himself as gangster Lucky Patiala and demanded ransom. He threatened to kill him if he did not pay the money. The call came from the number +1 (408) 312-0992. They ignored the call and blocked the number. Later, they filed a complaint with the SSP of Mohali. Now, the police are investigating the involvement of the Lucky Patiala gang. Police have formed a special investigation team.
Sector-39 police station in-charge, Inspector Ramdayal, said that more than four rounds were fired during the incident. The search for the motorcycle-borne attackers is underway. He said that people were bursting firecrackers that same night due to the women’s cricket team’s World Cup victory, which is probably why no one heard the gunshots. A special investigation team has been formed to arrest the accused.
